Celebration of All Souls

The annual celebration of All Souls was held at a Mass on November 2, 2009 in
the Church of St. Patrick and Raphael. Invitations were sent to all parishioners that had
lost a loved one since last November 2. During the Mass, the name of each  of the deceased 
was read to the tolling of a bell. The parishioner to whom the deceased was related could then
rise and come to the altar where they were given a candle to place on the table to the left of
the altar. Members of the sponsoring committee were present to aid each participant.
If no sponsor was present a candle was still lit and placed on the display. Cards were placed
with the candles identifying each of the deceased.  
The candles remained in place in the church until all had self-extinguished.

The Mass was followed by a lovely reception.
