General Information -- Parish Assessment and
Renewal Information
May 2008
Since early in the year, an effort has been underway to accomplish what
the above title
suggests – An assessment followed by a renewal of the parish
organization.
This has been the goal of the Pastoral Council and Father Burke. The aid
of a team
from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was solicited and obtained. This team,
consisting of
Father Thomas Sweetser, SJ and Sister Peg Bishop, responded with a well
tested
approach to the study. Father Tom and Sister Peg visited the parish and
met with a
newly formed committee of parishioners, (The Oversite Committee),
and the parish Staff. Plans were described and studies, consisting primarily of a
large scale
questionnaire, started. With the completion of this study and the
compilation of the
results by Father Tom and Sister Peg, the team again returned for an
extended period - approaching three weeks. They then started a series of
meetings with various groups
that were established and conducted discussions and training sessions.
Major commissions were organized and a chain of organizations established.
The efficiency
of this system was constantly being demonstrated by meetings being of
rather short
durations and projected times being met to the minute (well almost).
The Oversite Committee has issued a report, a copy of which can be read by
clicking
here. Much
more is
explained in this report. You are urged to read it through.
Subsequent to the departure of Father Tom and Sister Peg, a leadership
night was held
with each of the five major commissions and the Pastoral Council in
attendance.
After individual meetings by each group, the entirety met and two minute
summary reports
were presented by each of the five committees. The Pastoral Council then
met to review
the evening and issue the summary minutes of each committee. Further
information
concerning the five commissions is given in the PAR
NEWSLETTER
An
important appointment was made in which Carol DeMayo has agreed to accept
the position of PAR Point Person, acting as liaison between all of the
groups and to
assure that all maintain a focus that is necessary for the success of this
new endeavor.
Leadership committee meetings will be held the first Tuesday of each
month, and
minutes issued.
Interested parishioners are strongly encouraged to contact Carol D. with
questions,
interests and a desire to serve the parish.
