Commission and Council Reports

May 5, 2009

Pastoral Council:

It was decided that we meet Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00pm to discuss the budget. We will have a Tag and Bake Sale, put on by hospitality. The room will be available July 1st.

Formation:

-We reviewed the role of the Formation Commission for its new members, Mary Shine and Gene Barry. Mary Shine volunteered to chair the formation committee. We reviewed the budget and ideas and direction that the Formation may go.

-Judy reviewed the success of the Lenten Soup & Movie. Losing members caused some difficulties in getting this commission off the ground.

-We are looking to bridge the gap between the CCD program and weekly mass. We are hoping to bring back family masses and build a greater connection between the youth and weekly mass.

-Discussed a bible study – formation of such, and discussed an adult discussion/support group which would visit topics confronting our church.

-Goals: young Adult/Adult education offerings.

-Build connection between Religious Ed and Weekly Mass.

Outreach:

-Updated covenant list for Outreach.

-Voted in two new members

-Planned activities for July and August for Santa Rosa

-Updated job descriptions

 Worship:

The Worship Commission wishes to thank all those who worked on the beautiful liturgies of Holy Week and Easter.  We discussed plans for First Eucharist, Confirmation and the liturgy for Fr. Burke's last Mass at the end of June.  We need more members on the Liturgical Planning Committee.  Anyone interested in working on liturgy should contact the chairperson of that committee, Barbara Joseph, at 458-5809 or bjsoeph72@yahoo.com.  We welcomed Regina Quinn as a new member of this commission.  The commission notes a need for training and scheduling of Eucharistic Ministers both for service at Mass as well as to bring the Eucharist to shut-ins and the sick.  There needs to be coordination between the Outreach and Worship Commissions on this task.  Deacon Ryan has agreed to schedule two training sessions soon for Eucharistic Ministers and he will be involved in setting up a schedule for visits to shut-ins, hospitals and nursing homes

Community/Hospitality:

The meeting opened with two interested new possible members present. After expressing our joy they were unanimously approved. This was followed by a review of other possible members. During the discussion a third interested angel arrived. Again a vote was taken – a hearty ‘yeah’ was received. Some others are still being contacted.

Plans for the Anniversarians Mass (June 21st, 10:30am) were discussed and outlined. A discussion with Carol DeMayo clarified our responsibilities for some other events.

The meeting was adjourned with 4 new members on board and possibly others.

Administration:

There are no reports from the Finance and Buildings & Grounds Committees.

The Administration Commission is seeking new members. The commitment is one evening per month for  1˝-2 hours. Anyone interested can call Henry Pierpan at 458-3676 or Karen Whalen at 458-2771.

We are ready to start inputing the information from the parish census into our computer systems. Anyone who would like to volunteer to assist in this project should contact Henry, Karen or Linda Ludwig 458-4946, ext. 13.

Anyone who did not complete a parish census form is encouraged to do so. Please contact Pauline at the parish office to have a form forwarded to you. 458-4946, ext. 11.

The goals for the 2009-1010 year will be to:

  1. Successfully complete and record the parish census
  2. Develop an effective communications program for Saints Patrick & Raphael church. Anyone with skills and interest in this area should contact Henry of Karen.
