Carol DeMayo asked that the Community Commission take on
the task of producing a list of families or people that would be willing
to host coffee hours for special
occasions - sort of a HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE. An example
of the need for this was when the Music Director retired, the
Staff wanted to put on a coffee hour after mass and they had difficulty
finding anyone to do it. If a list was put together then it would
be easier to find people to do such things. Carol suggested that either
families do it together or groups of 2-3 people. We thought that we’d
expand on this concept and schedule two coffee hours per month, one
after the 8:30 mass, and the other after the 10:30 mass. We would do
this on different weekends and not interfere with other scheduled coffee
hours, i.e. Meals on Wheels.
The first scheduled Coffee Hour by the Community
Commission will be Sunday, September 21 after the 8:30am mass. Karen
Jolin and family have volunteered to serve as hosts. This will
entail ordering and picking up donuts & making the coffee. The next one
was to be on September 28 but another commission is having one
then. Should we schedule the next one for October 5 after the
10:30 mass? At the first couple of Coffee hours we will have
a signup for people so that we can add them to our “Coffee Hour
Volunteer” list. We should probably also advertise this in the bulletin
in case others want to be added to the list.
The second piece of business that we dealt with was the
continuing discussion of the “Senior Activities Committee” that we would
like to form. We decided to schedule a meeting for Wednesday,
September 24 at 7:00pm in the
Parish Center. We’ll advertise in the bulletin and invite anyone who is
interested in being on the committee. We hope to get some people
interested and if we’re lucky, someone will decide to run or co-chair
the group.
