Santa Rosa Sunday will be celebrated
this weekend. There will be hymns in Spanish, a special collection
envelope, and a special homily by Fr. Wayne recognizing our sister parish.
Martha Dailey is having a graphic arts poster made showing the pastoral
life of Santa Rosa, livelihood of the parishioners, their Mothers’
program, and Catechetical training program. Laurie Riley has been
welcoming new parishioners with a visit and a coffee cake.
Worship:
Fr. Wayne would like to be involved
with Eucharistic Adoration. A day and time change has been proposed. We
did more planning for the Ministry Fair. Dates are September 19 and 20.
Each commission will have an information booth at the Fair in order to
give information and recruit new members.
Community/Hospitality:
The post-Sunday mass coffee hours will
continue on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
Jackie Sedlock will sign interested families up to host, and she will
periodically check supplies and provisions. The ministry fair will take
place on September 19 and 20; committee members will volunteer to man
tables after masses that weekend. We also discussed a possible date and
format for a reception to welcome Fr. Wayne, as well as a long range plan
for a parish picnic next spring/summer.
Administration:
Members present: Linda Ludwig, Henry
J. Pierpan
The members completed tabulating the
parish census. We have received 261 replies to the census and with
Pauline entering the results in our computer system. A letter and
additional census forms will be mailed in August to all parishioners who
did not reply to the first letter. We thank all who responded to the first
mailing and encourage all who receive the letter this month to complete
the “Census” and “Time and Talent” forms.
The
Buildings and Grounds Committee met on July 15, 2009. They dealt with
a number of issues surrounding the sale of the St Raphael property. The
sale is expected to be completed in early September. The organ has been
sold to a Catholic Church in Export, PA. You may notice that the crosses
on the exterior of the church are expected to be removed this week. Many
of the saleable items that remain will be removed from the buildings and
sold at the tag sale. The, hopefully, last day to clean the buildings out
will be this Saturday, August 15th.
The B & G
Committee is also commencing a complete review of all of the parish
physical plant needs with the goal of completing a schedule for completion
over the next 4-5 years.
The
Finance Committee reported that the Casey Fund is providing a sum of
money to the parish to help pay for the new walks and cleaning and
updating the living quarters in the rectory for Father Biernat. We also
received monies to fund the scholarship program.
The Finance
Committee has started work on the 2009/10 budget and hope to complete by
our September meeting.
