Commission and Council Reports
July 7, 2009
Pastoral Council:
The Ministry Fair will be September 19 and 20 th.
Formation:
Discussed the 2 main areas we hope to address: Adult
Formation & bridge to CCD.We also stressed the need for more members.
CCD – how to make a bridge from CCD-church. For Middle school & HS. More
hands on speakers.
Brainstorming with kids regarding events and community service. Kids
have more involvement in activities.
Clean up grounds/decorate altar – to give pride to their church. For
younger kids, activities need to be more tangible. Kids need to see
their progress in order to remain involved and see the value of their
works. Give them ownership.
How to get them more involved in mass:
Family Mass once a month. Each grade will take ownership
for the monthly mass.
Confirmation kids take responsibility for lectors,
offertory. We will check with Catherine regarding a children’s choir.
Adult Formation: August meeting. Discuss adult bible
study group for fall.
Outreach:
Deacon Frank reported that Fr. Wayne will be doing
hospital and nursing home visits on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Deacon Frank will continue on Friday and Thursday.
We continued our planning for Santa Rosa Sunday on August 15/16.
Father’s homily will be about Santa Rosa, and the music will have a
Spanish theme.
Martha Dailey is planning an Antique Sale and coffee that weekend.
Proceeds will go to Santa Rosa.
We also discussed with Father Wayne about our next goal
of Outreach to lapsed Catholics who have left our parish.
Worship:
We discussed our plan for a ministry fair for one
weekend of September. We are continuing our discussion of training for
Eucharistic Ministers. This may need to be scheduled through the
diocese.
Community/Hospitality:
We reviewed the success of the post-mass coffee hours.
We discussed recommending to the chair a periodic inventory of coffee,
cups, other supplies, etc. Plans for the tab/bake sale are underway.
Chairs Kathleen Connors and JoAnn Murch have met and are planning to
make phone calls and place bulletin announcements soon. We looked ahead
to some possible events coming up in the next calendar year, like the
All Souls Mass in November.
Administration :
Revised parish census and will resend by the 1 st
week of August to all prior
non-respondents. Discussed recruiting several new members to the
commission. We also discussed establishing a Communications Committee.
There were a few parishioners who indicate an interest in the census
returns.
There is no report from the Buildings & Grounds or the Finance
Committees.
