Common Leadership Night
Commission and Council Reports
September 1, 2009
Note: Our meeting basically centered
around our plans for our Ministry Fair – to be held after each mass
on the weekend of September 19th and 20th.
Each of our Commissions listed below will have a station set up in the
parish center showcasing their work and their goals and answer any
questions. Please join us – find out what your parish is doing – you may
even find an area you would like to help with! Our commissions are putting
a lot of effort into this project – please plan on stopping by the center
to visit and enjoy refreshments.
(Pastoral Parish Council, Buildings
and Grounds and Finance committees will be meeting on different nights.
Those meeting reports will be printed in upcoming bulletins.)
Formation
Four people have signed up for Bible
Study so far. 1st & 3rd Friday’s of each month from
6:30-8:00pm. We will begin with the Gospel of Mark. BYOB (bring your own
bible.
Elementary religious education begins on Monday, 9/28/09 from 3-4:30pm
High School begins on Sunday evening, 10/4/09 from 7-8:30pm.
Both sessions will begin the year with Mass.
We are looking for Room Parents, substitutes and teachers. Why not
consider helping out in this very important ministry? We are always
looking for parental involvement to enrich the experience of our students.
Outreach:
Our
commission was very pleased with how Santa Rosa Sunday was received by our
parish community.
We will put
up our outreach commission organizational bulletin board for display at
the parish Ministry Fair planned for September 19th and 20th
after each Mass.
We continued
to discuss ways to encourage former parishioners to come back to our
parish.
Worship:
We finalized
plans for the Ministry Fair to be held after each mass the weekend of
Sept. 19-20. Each commission will have a booth at the fair staffed by
commission members. There will be information sheets listing the
volunteer activities and parishioners will be offered the opportunity to
sign up or simply to chat with commission members about the service
opportunities offered.
Adult choir
and Bell Choir practice will resume soon once we decide on an appropriate
time. Cathy Shane-Lydon will resume her work bringing music to the CCD
program.
Fr. Wayne
announced that the schedule for Eucharistic Adoration will be changed to
Wednesdays from 3-4 PM starting Sept. 16. He hopes to have Williams and
MCLA students participating.
Community/Hospitality:
Meeting
opened with comments concerning the great job being done by the Tag Sale
group.
Most of the
discussion concerned the Ministry Fair later this month. Many ideas were
presented. There is no lack of ideas. The major problem is finding an
artsy person to produce posters.
Administration:
Administration continued
to work on the census data and is also establishing an inactive
parishioner list. |
