Common Leadership Night
Commission and Council Reports
February 3, 2009
Pastoral Council:
The budget will be worked on in March
or April. All groups should be represented in the covenant booklet
somehow. A book for transition was offered to read as to how this should
be handled. The role of this committee should be decided by them.
Formation:
The Formation commission firmed up the
plans for the “Soup and Movie” nights during Lent. The event will be held
beginning 2/28/09 after 4:30pm mass – offering soup, bread, and a drink
for supper – followed by a movie. This will run each Saturday through
3/28/09. The commission members determined who will be the “kitchen
captain” on each Saturday (making sure the hall is set up, and the soup is
ready for movie goers after Mass). Each captain will staff kitchen with
additional volunteers. Sandra will circulate a sign up sheet at Sunday
night CCD – to get student volunteers. We have restaurants willing to
donate soup/and two “guest” soup chefs. Debbie Cameron and Judy Smith
gave recommendation of various movies appropriate for the event. From
these recommendations the members chose five movies. Each committee
member agreed to take care one or two of the following tasks in
preparation for the event: publicity, purchasing of paper goods, drinks,
and bread, obtaining the movies.
Outreach:
Outreach has worked on composing
detailed job descriptions of the various committees that fall under
heading of Outreach. We also began exploring the development of a
committee to reach out to parishioners in crisis. Also addressed
contacting volunteers.
Worship:
We focused on fine tuning our
operation. Each group is to report on their progress. There will an
informational meeting of the choir with rum cake refreshments. Music at
CCD is going well. Lenten booklets have been chosen and will be mailed to
those selected by Outreach. A Lenten Family Activity is planned for March.
There will be an afternoon retreat for Eucharistic ministers in March as a
refresher course.
Community:
(Operating as the Hospitality Committee)
We discussed plans for the St.
Patrick’s Day dinner dance. It will take place on Friday, March 13 at the
Williams Inn. The co-chairs for this event are Maureen and Tim Moore.
Menu, entertainment, decorations are all set. Tickets will be sold after
masses (dates tba). A detailed bulletin announcement will follow.
We discussed coffee hours, their
recent successes, and a possible chair person for the scheduling of
families to host every other Sunday.
We continued to discuss the
possibility of a parish picnic and a chairperson.
Administration:
Final stages toward completion of
parish census are underway. A report on the census will be given at each
Mass this weekend. Additional census forms will be available at the back
of the church after each Mass. If assistance is needed in completing the
census form, Jim Eglin may be contacted at 458-5096. We also discussed
publicity and will consider it further at the next meeting.
