Fortunately for the French-Canadian population of
Williamstown, there were twelve men with great foresight and enthusiasm,
who recognized the need of
a permanent church building, and the importance of
such church for the future development of French-Canadian Catholic life in this
community. Over a period
of several years, they contributed and raised most of
the funds needed to
erect our church.
Very little is known about these men, in spite of
the extensive research done
by the authors of the Anniversary booklet. The
burial sites of eleven of the
men were located in Eastlawn Cemetery. Only that
of Peter Martin has not
been found.
